  • Ahoy matey

I've got a pirate party tonight
worked on my outfit for a total of 6 hours.
Still got some things to make.
    Woke up today with severe
    nerdy
    allergies.

I don't really care to take the train
    to the party
dressed in all my pirate glory
    and nerdy allergies.
    People will stare.
At least if I went with someone,
people will stare at both of us,
    which is better.

    Stupid allergies.

  • i only went home for a week and a few days
and it's the first time in my life i've felt truly connected
    with family.
i also felt connected with friends and church
but it was the first time for me to feel like
    i was
    truly
    part of my family.

  • cool things seem to happen around ben.
his mother knows thom yorke's father.
ben asks his mum to call him up.
    and bam...
backstage tickets to radiohead for two.
    awesome.
it was a small group at the after party.
met a blueman and his fashion designer wife.
also met a man who was the photographer for radiohead, soundgarden, etc.
was nervous that folks would had huge heads and egos at this thing...
but was surprised to find out they were entirely humble
and when they spoke to me, they looked at my eyes
and were, for those moments, only concerned about what was coming out of my mouth.
    radiohead, unfortunely, had gone home.
    oh well.
free tickets to a concert that was sold out months and months ago.

    seriously...what happened to xanga?
i have no idea how to navigate this damn thing.

  • It has been absolute ages since I've last posted something up on this blasted thing.  I was only recently reminded of this account when Mitch told me he remembered having the voyeuristic pleasure of dipping into my thoughts, albeit nonsensical and mostly unimportant.  I remember how enjoyable blogging to used to be.  Where has the time gone?  I remember when Vanessa first introduced me to Xanga back in 2002, when we were both living in Amsterdam.  Sigh.  How I miss A'dam.  Those were good times and good environs - the art, architecture, weather, style, history, layout, cafes, restaurants, et al.

I am slowly being driven mad by Japanese culture.  At first, it was just how the Japanese perceived "work" but now it's everything from the way Japanese people drive to these damn comedians (who are actually childish and not funny at all), to these damn commercials/tv shows.

I really should have maintained this blog to log my frustrations starting in July 2008 but by now, it's been so long that my qualms with it are way too plentiful for me to even start writing them down.  Maybe I'll spue it out gradually from now on.  We'll see, since Xanga is blocked from my work servers.  Sigh.

I'm also sick.  Japan makes me sick....no...I mean literally.  Since being in Japan, I have gotten very ill about 4 times the frequency I normally became ill in the States.   I haven't been home since I left in 2006.  I'm going insane.  The closest I've been to a western country since then was going to Russia, which was like bizzaro-world USA.

    More later.

I've decided to change my Xanga theme to the one I could most readily (sp?) access that didn't repulse me.  It's been a long while since I actually actively participated in Xanga that I now don't know how to navigate/edit my account with all this new jiggery pokery Xanga has implemented.

  • i wonder what it's like to have parents who speak the same language as i do.
ones who are fluent in the culture in which i live.
i wish she knew what my motivations were
    what my priorities are
in a language she could understand
    without dictionaries.

there are many times when i feel like i have many acquaintences
    but no immensely close friends...
    ones i tell everything to
    there's always something holding back
    and it's usually me.
    i'm mostly convinced now
    that it's my inability
    to be close to people.

they say that no man is an island
but who are they to think they are correct

  •    double

    in shinjuku, tokyo
a 5-minute walk from the keio plaza hotel
there is one of the most fantasticalific turkish restaurants.
i've been there about 4 times
and there's this little mosaic that spans across one of the walls.
    look carefully.

    then...

recently, i looked at a facebook page of my friend, justin
who i saw a few months ago
after not seeing him in about 10 years since high school.
apparently, he had gone to africa
and his friends took a photo of him
    and tagged him.
